Document exchange in regulated systems
I have worked on regulated integrations that exchange documents through Peppol across Europe. In these flows, delivery needs to be considered together with validation, audit trails, tenant isolation and data location.
Understanding discovery is part of understanding the integration. Before looking at a failed document flow only as an application error, it helps to understand how the network locates participants and which infrastructure the lookup depends on.
Discovery and architecture
The first article below explains the DNS logic behind Peppol discovery. The second explores how regulatory constraints shape system boundaries and deployment decisions:
The wider engineering context
Peppol integration connects to the same questions of ownership, failure behaviour and operation that appear in distributed systems and software architecture. Read about my background for the experience behind these notes.
